The street names at the Media Park in Media City Hilversum, have changed since May 13, 2013. They were named after important personalities from the world of radio and television. In total, the Media Park were given 23 new names of broadcasting heroes – pioneers of then and now. Starlive communication & events organized the festive opening party , which took place at the Institute for Sound & Vision at the Media Park . Numerous named persons were present or their relatives, like Eva Ruis , one of the children of Willem Ruis, with her family, and the children of Rudi Carrell . Other attendees were Linda de Mol and John de Mol Sr., Mies Bouwman and her husband, director Leen Timp, Koos Postema, André van Duin, Barend en Van Dorp and Wim T. Schippers. Joop van den Ende had an emotional recorded message for his colleagues. Frank Evenblij hosted a talk show with the parties involved and interviewed some of the named persons. Guests also saw André van Duin as Mr. Wijdbeens in a hilarious quest to find the streets at the Media Park. The mayor of Hilversum, Pieter Broertjes, then revealed all the names. Showgirls in beautiful costumes finally came on stage with replicas of the street name signs, which were then symbolically handed over to the named guests or their family. “It was a challenge to make a program for this audience, people who have seen everything and look at it with a very critical view” said Berry de Jong and Jan Eleveld Starlive, “but given the many positive comments and emails afterwards, we think we succeeded “. “These names were not chosen overnight, thorough research and many conversations were held. A street name given by life is an unprecedented honor. It is a distinction with extra value, which actually surpasses almost all prices.” Said Han Peekel, who has been busy with this initiative for the last year and a half representing his foundation Stichting MediaGeheugen. “The reason why the streets, roads are named now has also a practical reason,” said Jacco Zwerver from Media Park Beheer. “The park is so large and certainly the composition has changed a lot in the last few years. Just ” Sumatralaan 45 “(until recently only and official street name for the entire Media Park) is not sufficient anymore”, so Zwerver says. “For the city of Hilversum and Media Park Beheer safety management is of great importance. Emergency services can now operate faster because of the new street names. In short, the accessibility of this unique business park has definitely improved. “concludes Pieter Broertjes.
